The purpose of the Union
County College Chapter of the American Association of University Professors shall be to
promote the interests of higher education, to advance the standards, ideals and welfare of
the academic profession, to improve the terms and conditions of employment of the faculty
of Union County College through collective bargaining, to represent the faculty of Union
County College in all matters concerned with collective bargaining, and to further the
interests of the Chapter, the faculty of Union County College and the academic profession.
The Chapter expects actively
to participate in the shared governance of the College, defends academic freedom of
faculty and librarians, views tenure as a primary safeguard for academic freedom, and
seeks to maintain a spirit of collegiality throughout the institution.
